| Folks ask me everyday,
"How do I get rid of all my SPAM? It's coming into my
mailbox worse than ever!".
The simple answer is,
you can't get rid of it. SPAM is inevitable. The only
thing to do is to filter it out with software, like
Norton AntiSpam. I actually used that myself for
several months and found good success, but it really
wasn't enough for me. There had to be a better way.
Here's what I did:
Instead of filtering
out unwanted email, I wanted to blacklist all SPAM. I
installed a product called CA AntiSpam, which searches
your Outlook or Outlook Express for previously
authorized email addresses and sticks them all in a
whitelist of trusted folks. Any other email got sent
directly to email jail (Junk folder). Of course you
still have to do a quick scan of your SPAM once in a
while to see if any new folks have sent you mail - then
mark them as "Not Junk".
Being cheap (and the
fact that I had already purchased Norton AntiSpam), I
found that you could export the Safe List to a simple
text file, uninstall CA AntiSpam, then import back into
Outlook's Safe Senders list (about 4200 addresses). And
that's it. No more SPAM in my inbox, ever! All it took
was using Outlook as my email client, a trial download
of an AntiSpam software and some elbow grease.
Now that's my story and
yours may differ. Most folks don't want to go through
the trouble so I suggest investing CA Antispam - about
$30. It's easy to use and works with other email
clients. Most importantly, you will segregate ALL your
SPAM. Best $30 you'll ever spend.
